  • Being a proud bangalorean especially a chamarajpete huduga, born and brought up here, its really a pleasure being here. Apart from traffic blockage in 5th main road everything is perfect.
  • Ganesh Hotel is the place ver idlis and benna r prepared in heaven....chec it out
  • I love chamarajapeTe too: * for its wide straight main roads (remember that it is one of the oldest, "planned" residential areas in Bangalore), * huge trees giving shade across large areas in the streets (some of the really huge ones along Mysore road near Sirsi circle made way for Sirsi-cicle--Town-hall flyover - the first and best flyover in the city - even after almost a decade, it is in really good condition!) * being at the centre, it is extremely convenient to get buses (or connecting buses) to any part of the city. * the Ganesha Bakery (2nd Main road, between 7th and 6th cross) for its wonderful 'Special' Mysore Pak (second to only baLepeTe Venkateshwara Sweet Meat Stall's Mysore Pak) and onion pakoDa among many other ambrosial sweets and khara. * this is 'the' place for banana leaves in the entire city (5th and 4th main roads, around 3rd and 2nd crosses, near saalangaDi a.k.a Bazaar Street); Everyday truck loads of banana leaves arrive here and then get redistributed across the city. • chamarajpet is also known for its kannadaabhimaana. its called kannadigara KOte.
  • From the time I was in 5th grade, till 1958 I lived in 4th main road. If my memory is right it was at door No. 191. It was St.Thomas Church compound. In our street that time popular singer Honnappa Bagavathar was staying, and I was told that Mrs.B.Saroja Devi the popular film star too was living in that area. My early school was started at Bharathiya Samaskruthi Vidhyapeita. The school was just started and we were about ten students. I was know as Paul Chandran. My principal was Mr.Nagesh Hatwar. Later the school moved to the bigger place at 5th Main Road, next to Mr. Kasthuri Rangan rose farm. Many more great memories.
  • Hi Paul. I remember you very well. I used to come to your house. Your house was on 4th main, 5th cross and was in the north west corner. email me at vk5531@yahoo.com. We can catch up. Vidyapith has now moved to a building near your old house on 4th main. There used to Gajendra Vilas either on 4th main or 3rd main 3rd cross. It was famous for Maddur Vada. Majestic hotel on bazaar street has now become some upahar. I used to go Sanjay talkis for movies. It has become a hospital/medical school now.

  • Is chamrajpet bangalore south?
  • I grew up in the chamarajapet in the 60s and 70s living in no. 138, 3rd main road, 8th cross in an upstairs home rented. Studied at vijay nursery school, Rama Mandira school and st. Joseph's high school. Later went to agricultural college. I have fond memories of chamarajapet - playing in the masjid grounds, dosai in cctr, walking to third cross, uma and jayashree talkies cinemas, roadside bonda in 8th cross....I live thousands of miles away but still visit chamarajapet and meet old friends and shop keepers like seena in 7th crossand3rd main road
