The Mathews Bridge (Jacksonville, Florida)

USA / Florida / Jacksonville / Jacksonville, Florida

Built in 1953, it's the second oldest bridge in the area. If you exclude the St. Johns River bridge built in 1921, which was replaced by the Acosta in 1991.

It is one of the seven Jacksonville Bridges which cross the St. John's River, but only one of the four truss bridges.

For irony, see Euler's "Seven Bridges of Königsberg".

  • The Jacksonville Equivalent to the Hawaii's Ironman Triathlon would be to swim from the Matthews to the Acosta. Get on a bike, pedal to Gainesville, turn around and pedal to Baldwin. Then jog the remainder of the way back to Jacksonville.
