Gandy Bridge

USA / Florida / Gandy /

Gandy Bridge - The first bridge across Tampa Bay, the original span was opened in 1921. While it no longer stands, three replacement bridges were built. The oldest and northernmost remaining span, the Friendship Trail, is used by pedestrians, bicyclists, and anglers. The middle and southern spans carry east and westbound traffic.

Gandy bridge carries the designation of US 92 between S Dale Mabry Hwy and E Hillsborough Ave in Tampa and 4th St. N in St. Petersburg. It creates a corridor with only a few signals, between St. Petersburg and the Crosstown Expressway (Toll) to Downtown Tampa, Brandon.

The Friendship Trail bridge has a popular catwalk underneath the western end for fishing.
