  • An Aborigine man gave me a wooden snake carved from a branch of a ghost gum tree.He did not want anything in return, although I offered. They requested us not to take their photographs. We respected that. The adults were constantly teaching the children how to survive in the bush. The church built by German missionaries at the turn of the century still stands.
