Kattamuru, actually the original name was Katnam Ooru (katnam means Dowry or Gift and Ooru means Village in Telugu language), which was given as katnam(gift)to the temple Jodugullu (a very famous temple of Rama and Lakshmana)by the king of Padmapuram Samsthanam Vatsavayi dynasty.( now famously called Peddapuram). This is one of the richest villages in Andhra Pradesh.
