Escazu Hills Natural Protection Zone

The "Cerros de Escazú" occupy a region to southwest of San Jose. It is part of the north-western Talamanca mountains, appearing as a branch close to the final Central Valley from the South. That territory includes the municipal region of Santa Ana, Escazú, Alajuelita,Aserrí, Acosta, Puriscal and Mora.

The "Cerros de Escazú" are protected by an Presidential Order and various laws and regulations established for the preservation of natural resources and limiting human activities that may contaminate water, soil, air, or in any way to harm the flora and fauna.

The highest point in descending order are: Cerro Rabo de Mico with 2428 meters. above sea level, followed the hill Cedral with 2420 meters.; Pico Blanco with 2271 meters., San Miguel in 2036 and the High Tapezco with an altitude of approximately 1900 meters to.
