Coiba Island

Panama / Ngobe Bugle / Cerro Sombrero /
park, island, birdwatching area, UNESCO World Heritage Site

Formerly a prison island, Panama's largest island is now a National Park. You can visit the ruins of the prison or visit the ranger station to view the amazing diversity of birds and other wildlife on Coiba. Due to the prison colony preventing colonization, about 80% of the islands forest remains virgin forest.
Administratively, the island is part of Veraguas Province.
