Vulcan is a town in Brasov County, central region, Romania.

Vulcan City is at an altitude of 606 m above sea level and is located in south - east of Transylvania, on the outskirts of south - Barsa depression. Boundary extends north to the southern slopes of the Magura Codlea, west to the plateau preceding Persani Mountains to the east is limited Barsa River and south of the meadows and forests Rasnov. Further south stands Bucegi, 2505 m high, west of Stone followed Mountains and in close proximity, the plague mountain, 1628 m high, belonging to the volcano.

The first document dates from 1377.

Common Vulcan (germ Wolkendorf, mag. Szasz - Volkany, lat. Villa Volkan, SAS. Wolkendref) was the village free of district, county Brşov that today is common in Brasov county.
The settlement was colonized around 1220 about 10 families of German settlers.
