Codlea is a city in Braşov County, central Romania.
Codlea (Feketehalom Hungarian, German Zeiden) is a municipality in the county of Brasov, Transylvania, Romania. It has a population of 24,256 inhabitants.
The first traces of life dating back to the old Bronze Age (2000-1500 BC). Under the protection of the Teutonic Knights for 14 years (1211-1225) in Barsa settled peasants and artisans of German origin. Teutonic Knights were brought to this area of the Hungarian King Andrew II, in order to protect the southern border of the Hungarian Kingdom Cumans invasion threat. Teutonic Knights, military and religious order was founded in Palestine, having gone to protect pilgrims to visit Jerusalem. These knights have contributed to the foundation Brasov Saxon and other 13 settlements, including: Halchiu, Harman, Prejmer Feldioara Sanpetru, Rasnov Codlea to They were built in five cities including Barsa Black Fortress on the south-western Magura Codlea.
