Site of Civil War fort built in the Spring of 1863. Attacked on Oct. 6, 1863 by Confederate Col. John M. Hughes and his 25th Tennessee Inf. Regiment. Union troops under Maj. Samuel Martin surprised. Over 200 horses captured and 142 men captured, and later paroled.
