William Mitchell State Park is located between Lake Cadillac and Lake Mitchell. The two lakes are actually connected by a short canal which cuts through the park.
The park sits on the western boundaries of Cadillac, Michigan. Originally a swampland, the area was filled in with the sawdust of local lumber mills and transformed into one of the area's first public parks. Today, its camps sites regular fill each summer with vacationers.
