Originally called Little Clam Lake, this body of water is located entirely within the boundaries of the city of Cadillac. Some consider it to be the largest lake anywhere contained inside the limits of a city.
The lake is a popular tourist destination. In the summer it fills with pleasure boats and in the winter, after the lake freezes over, it attracts snowmobilers and ice fisherman.
It is connected to nearby Lake Mitchell by a short canal.
