Two 6" disappearing carriage guns were mounted here from 190? to 1926.

Battery Howard was named on December 27, 1904 in honor of Major Guy Howard, quartermaster, U.S. Volunteers (captain, Quartermaster's Department, U.S. Army), who was killed in action near Arayat, Province of Pampanga, Philippine Islands, October 22, 1899.
