Operating as a geographically separate portion of Naval Base Guam, the Polaris Point Submarine Base is home to the vessels and tenant commands of Submarine Squadron 15 (SUBRON 15), the Submarine Tender USS Frank Cable (AS-40) and several smaller commands.

Named for its historical role as the primary berthing and support facility for US Navy Ballistic Missile Submarines which carried Polaris Ballistic Missiles, today the primary mission of the facility is to support the three Los Angeles Class Attack Submarines homeported in Guam but also serves as a support facility for all other Attack Submarines deployed to the Pacific Fleet Area of Operations, as well as the Guided Missile Submarines USS Ohio (SSGN-726) and USS Michigan (SSGN-727) when they deploy out of Bangor, WA.
