Formerly a General Motors vehicle assembly plant, it had a short life. Soon after it opened in 1928, the Great Depression forced its closure in 1931. General Motors opened it again for the 1931 model year.

The plant manufactured cars and trucks through 1941, when the Second World War caused a shift from civilian to military production. The government acquired the plant and renamed it Regina Industries Ltd. After the war, auto production was not resumed, but the Department of National Defense used parts of the building until the mid-1960s. The province took over the building in 1967; it is currently used by a variety of tenants.
