Petrohrad castle was founded in 1559 by Jaroslav Libstejnsky of Kolowrat. In 1572 was ended construction of the main building, castle tower with the tower clock was built as lately as 1895. The castle and manor were confiscated after the Czech Lords Revolt supression after White Mountain Batlle due to Libstejnsky participation on it. Count Czernin of Chudenitz acquired the manor in 1622, when he bought it for 98 000 threescores of Meisen thalers. In Czernins property was the castle up to 1945. In 1952 was the asylum constituded here.
