Hotel 837

USA / New Jersey / West New York / Second Avenue, 837

5-story boutique hotel completed in the 1870s as a tenement building. From 1926 to 2015, the ground floor was occupied by The Palm steakhouse. Since opening, management has opened additional restaurants throughout the United States, in Puerto Rico and in Mexico. The Palm is notable for steak, lobster, traditional Italian dishes and the caricatures of individuals sketched on its walls. The restaurant, which had also owned the building, decided to sell it 2015, closing the original location, with plans to renovate the upper floors, long used as storage, into apartments. It was instead remodeled into a small hotel, and was given a new facade

The facade is now clad in variegated grey brick. There are three bays of large windows divided by black metal mullions. Each window is subdivided into smaller panes, and has a metal vent incorporated into it. The facade is capped by a brick parapet with a stone coping, stepped up at the ends. The south elevation is clad in brown brick.
