THis building houses the General Manager's Office of Southern Railway, Southern Railway covers states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Pondicherry and a small part of Andhra Pradesh. The building was built in 1931 as the Headquarters office of Madras and SOuth Maratta Railway (MSM). On re-organisation of Railways , this building became the Headquarters office of Southern Railway.
