Cemetery made in one day(April 4th 1944) when over 5000 men, women and children was injury or killed by approximate 3000 tons of bomb dropped-of by 150 USAF B-25 Mitchell and B-24s. Most of damages was made on the Bucharest railway station(complet demolished) and in the surrounding neighbourhoods. No military or governmental building was destroyed.
In the communist regime it was an project to build a research institution over this grave-yard. That building was never started but all the graves was buldozed.
