In India the game Cricket was started here, produced lots of talented players. The national game hockey is also in the blood of Thalasserians and has produced many international and national hockey players from this ground.

Cricket was played in Thalassery much before it was introduced in Calcutta in 1860. Thalassery Stadium, also known as the Thalassery Municipal Cricket Ground, hosts the Ranji Trophy cricket matches every year. On this ground, the first ball was bowled in the early 1800s, thanks to Colonel Wellesley, who brought the game to this Malabar town. In 2002, Thalassery cricket ground celebrated its 200th birthday by hosting a one-day international cricket match between India and Sri Lanka.

His timing in cracking jokes, ability in building teams and devotion towards the game hockey is un measurable and uncomparable. He was 32, died just after a hockey league match in which he has scored a goal against... You can see his grave very near to the hockey playing area in Juma Masjid Graveyard... Harrreeee.... we miss you in each and every breath of ours!!! We all pray for you... Mr. Srinivas- IOB Bank : Sreeni ettan was an active basketball lover, who finds time to be along with the game even during his busy work schedule.. A Qualified national referee..
