City with a population of 9.925 in 2000. County seat of Logan County. First settled in 1889 when the Territory of Oklahoma was created and the area opened for white settlement. Founded as the territorial capital. Named for John Guthrie, a Kansas jurist. Served as state capital from statehood in 1907 until 1910. Lost population and prominence after the capital was moved to Oklahoma City.
