The village Bairapura is about 45 years old. The people who stay here are refugees of the Hemavathi Reservoir Project. They left their old place "Yadane" (which had drowned in Hemavathi backwater) and came here in early 1960s. They dreamt for best and built their own holy place in Presence of Goddess Lakshmi. Goddeess Lakshmi is their "OOru Devethe" and the temple of Goddess Lakhmi situated at the centre of the village.

The place is about a distance of 4 kms from Gorur and 9 kms from Arkalagud(Taluk centre). To its misfortune, even today the place is not having a road facility due to negligency of local Politicians.
