This home belongs to the Founder of Iams Dog Food, Mr. Clay Mathile. He sold the company for over a billion dollars to Procter and Gamble Company. He is probably the only billionaire in the Miami Valley and Dayton area

  • i believe the mansion belongs to clay mathile former owner of iams pet food. he is a resident of the area. i use to pass by a property that my friends would point out and state that mr. mathile had a guess home near the front of the property for his cook. i always thought that the second home on the property was his house which it probally was but it looks like they are building a new home further back from the road way hence all the trailers and vehicles.mr. mathile is # 468 on forbes list of riches people in the world with 1.5 billion dollars.
  • Clay Mathile is indeed the only Forbes listee in the Miami Valley. In fact, he is one of only two listees in Ohio. The other is Les Wexner of the Columbus area and of Limited/Victoria's Secret fame and forture. Both are easily Googled for a plethora of interesting information about them. Wexner also has an interesting Wikipedia entry. Driving by the Mathile estate at the corner of Diamond Mill Road and Wastler Road in Clayton, northwest of Dayton -- although you can't see much except the expanse of it -- is nonetheless a rather breathtaking experience. Wexner is a native of Dayton, Ohio...as was Paul Iams, founder of the pet food company that his partner, Clay Mathile, ultimately bought out and later sold to Proctor and Gamble for beaucoup bux. Mathile is a native of northern Ohio.
  • About 6 or 7 years ago, the family hired The Cincinnati Circus Company to entertain for a family reunion. I was one of the entertainers. The place is breathtaking. When we first pulled in, someone said, "That's a nice house." Our boss replied, "That's the guest house." The theme was pirates. We all had a blast in character, and there were multiple themed inflatables and tents and more. The house and grounds are so gorgeous that I had to work very hard to focus on the family members and not just stare at everything. The closest I got to the house was around the pool. It has a gradual slope, like being at the beach, and in the concrete around it are crests with the initials of the children's families. I would love to see it again, especially to actually tour the home.
