The San Bernard Oak stands in a dense bottomland forest in the San Bernard National Wildlife Refuge, in Brazoria County, Texas. From the air, it looks like all of its neighbors, so it isn’t visible in this satellite image. Its location was established by GPS coordinates at the base of the tree.

The San Bernard Oak is accessible by a driveway and trail through a locked gate on the north side of County Road 306 (see separate place approximately 1.1 mile SSE). Persons wishing to visit the San Bernard Oak must register at the Refuge Headquarters (see separate place approximately 1.4 mile ESE) during business hours, either in person or by telephone to 979-964-3639. After-hours visits are permitted, but must be arranged in advance with Refuge Headquarters staff.
