Strange Creek

Strange Creek, Braxton Co., WV was named for William Strange who in the late 1700's became lost from a surveying party and was found years later only a skeleton left. He is said to have carved on a beach tree:
"Strange is my name and I'm on strange ground and strange it is that I can't be found"
