Original site of Smith Family homestead built by Thomas Smith son of Jacob and Freelove (Jones) Smith in around 1750 and destroyed by fire in 1897. Ruins of the foundation can be seen as part of a stone wall on the site. Owned by Emmeline Smith Fletcher to whom it had descended in the Smith family, the property was subdivided in the 1930's with the southern lot sold to Mary W. Richartz and northern lot sold to Henry Meursinge Duys, Board Chairman of H. Duys & Co., Tobacco. Duys' daughter "Tiny" married C. Arthur "Chick" Smith Jr. a descendant of Thomas Smith.
