The Felton homestead was about 1 1/2 miles North of HWY 20 and, according to my mother's info, five miles from Isabel. SD HWY 65 goes North/South through Isabel and serves as Main Street. It is two miles due West to the Ziebach/Dewey county border. It would appear to me that the homestead was another three miles from the Ziebach/Dewey county line and approximately one half mile North or one and one half miles North of HWY 20. This then, is the location of Township 17 North, Range 21 East, Section 27, the legal descripion of the Orza Felton homestead. The latitude/longitude is 45.4079 N, 101.5218 W, with the elevation of the property at 2402 feet above sea level. At least I now know that the homestead was located in the NE Irish Creek 7.5 minute topographical area.
