The cemetery's church was built like 500 years ago by the Dragoescu Family ( local governors at that time). From they The village got the name of Dragoesti.
In 1977 The Olt river flooded the near valley taking with it half of the cemetery's church and lots of dead bodies. The church has been rebuilt since , and an embankment was built for the Olt River.
