Port of Qana, now Bir Ali in South Yemen is an ancient sea route that went along the north-western shore to the port of Gerrha in the Arabian Gulf. From India came spices, ebony, silk and fine textiles to the port of Qana the goods were transported overland to the north on a track that later came to be known as "the gold and incense road. Thus it became possible to cross the long way from Qana on the Indian Ocean to Ghaza on the Mediterranean Sea in 60 to 70 days.
