Mukalla (Arabic: المكلا al-Makalā)
Alternative spelling: Al-Mukalla, Al-Mukhalla

Al-Mukalla is the capital of and a city in the Hadramaut coastal region in the southern part of Yemen on the Gulf of Aden, 480 km (300 mi) east of Aden. It is the most important port in the Governorate of Hadramaut, the largest governorate in Yemen. Historically, it was a main trading destination for the trade between India and Africa.

It was the capital of the Quaiti State of Hadramaut which was ruled by Sultans (Kings) until 1967 when it became a part of South Yemen and then of the larger Republic of Yemen. The Quaiti State was part of the Eastern Aden Protectorate until that merger. A British Resident Advisor was stationed at Al Mukalla.
