Ripley holds one of the largest bonfire parades in Surrey, on the last Saturday of October each year, when residents and visitors alike celebrate Bonfire night with a torchlit procession, huge bonfire and a stunning firework display. A large funfair fills the wonderful village green which is the heart of the village. Here, cricket has been played longer than at any other ground in the world and, it is said, the middle stump was introduced at Ripley by a local bowler who became tired of seeing his cricket ball fly between the two upright stumps that were used at the time.

Another recent introduction is a monthly farmer’s market held, where else but on the village green, which has proven to be extremely popular. Over 50 individual stalls now set out their wares on the second Saturday of each month, selling everything from food to flowers, meat to mead.
