Former Brooklands Motor Race Circuit

United Kingdom / England / Walton and Weybridge /
place with historical importance, abandoned / shut down, motorcar racing track

Brooklands Motor Race Circuit. Many speed records were made here. The circuit, built in 1907, celebrated its centenary in 2007. Only a short section of the famous banked track is still visible. Now home of Brooklands Museum dedicated to aircraft and motor history and of Mercedes Benz World, a public test track and museum for Mercedes cars. This was formerly the home of Vickers Aircraft (later BAC and BAe) where they built the Wellington, Viscount and VC-10 amongst others.

A new top end spa hotel, the Brooklands Hotel, opened in 2010.

You can go on a tour of the second Concorde plane made here but no champagne and caviar!
