The "shortest river in the world". (Guinness World Records)
The river runs between Giant Springs and the Missouri River in Great Falls, Montana. The Roe River is only 61 meters (201 feet) at its longest constant point.
The Roe River is not a true river. It was artificially made when the original Giant Springs were given a grotesque concrete barrier in the 1930's. It's purpose is to feed the nearby fish hatchery. In fact, there is no mention of such a river in Meriwether Lewis's journal, and early photographs from the 1900's do not show a river. The pool of water from the springs simply overflowed into the nearby Missouri a few feet away.
