A small private social club founded in 1898 for the historic suburban planned community of Roland Park. The clubhouse was designed and built by the architectural firm of Ellicott and Emmart and stands at the southern edge of Plat 2 of the community, the plans of which were laid out by Frederick Law Olmstead Jr. There have been few alterations made to the design of the clubhouse since its completion in 1901, save for the enclosing of the front entrance loggia facing Roland Avenue to create space for more offices. It is an official member of the American Association of Women's Clubs, Maryland Chapter. It was part of the original plans laid out by the community's developers, the Roland Park Company Inc., and served to make the community more desirable to prospective buyers. Originally, only those living within the specifically defined Roland Park boundaries could become members. There is no way to apply as entree into the club is by invitation only. Often the venue for events sponsored by the Roland Park Civic League, the official neighborhood association.
