Former Augustinian monastery was founded in 1147 in honour of the victory of Duke of Bohemia and Poland Bretislav I (Bretislaus) over Germans and conclusion of negotiation a peace treaty between him and Emperor Henry III. The monastery was siutuated in the godforsaken margin of Czech Duchy. In 1420 it was destroyed by Hussites and reconstructed in 1595, but disestablished by Austrian Emperor Joseph II. The Gothic Church of St. Mary was partly in Baroque rebuilded in 1686 and since 1787 served as a parish church. At present is the monastery and church almost annihilated and salvage works have been attempting slowly to avert complete destruction.
