Old city founded by Czech King Vladislav II in 1169 to guard the old land tradeway Prague-Pilsen-Nurenberg. First sovereingns was members of the Order of St. John´s Knights. Later the Hrobcicky of Hrobcice family founded a castle, which had been reconstructed 1712 after a large fire of all the city by Lazansky Count of Bukova in the monumental barroque style with extensive landscape garden a plenty barroque statues. A prominent Czech historical landmark, called as a "barroque pearl" of Bohemia. Barroque Churches of St. Barbara and St. John the Baptist.

After the Europeans allies of Czech´s and Hitler´s Nazi Garmany Munich Agreement (September 29, 1938) the last Czech country of this part of Sudetenland - Czechoslovakia border.
