Burial site for several deceased crewmen from the 1741-1742 exploration expedition of Vitus Bering, whose vessel grounded on Shemya on its return trip to Russia.

  • It's a graves of the sailors from V.Bering's expedition (1741-1742). 28th November 1741 Berings ship - "St.Peter" crushed here. V.Bering died here 6th December 1741 and 18 his sailors died here too. The others can built a boat from the wrecks of "St.Peter" and then (spring 1742) came back home.
