Little Falls Cemetery

Russia / Kamcatka / Nikolskoye /
Second World War 1939-1945, war cemetery, historic ruins

The bodies of American soldiers were buried in this temporary cemetery, eight to a trench. The Japanese dead were buried in a separate temporary cemetery to the northeast of Little Falls; small signs in front of each trench marked the number of bodies each mass grave contained.

In 1946, the bodies of Americans were exhumed and moved to either Fort Richardson, Alaska; Arlington National Cemetery, Virgnia; or to other cemeteries according to the wishes of their next of kin.
