Primate's Palace

This imposing pink palace is one of the jewels of Bratislava's architecture. The palace was constructed for the archbishop of Esztergom J. Batthyany, based on the plan of M. Hefele, between 1777 and 1781, on the ruins of one medioevale construction. The palace has been witness of numerous historical events. To the inside of the palace is found Hall of the Mirrors, in which it has been concluded the peace between Napoleon Bonaparte and the Austrian Emperor Francis I's Austria after the battle of Austerliz. The peace pact was signed for France by the Foreign secretary Tayllerand and for the Austrian Empire by Prince von Lichtenstein (peace become famous like the " Peace of Pressburg").

The inner ones of the palace are use you today as it at the same time knows them of representation of the mayor of Bratislava and as it knows them of exposure. Here an only series of six English tapestries of the 17th century is found also, that they represent the mitologic history of the tragic love between Hero and Leander.
