Manvel is city located at the intersection of State Highway 6, State Highway 288 and Farm-to-Market Road 1128 in northern Brazoria County, Texas.
It was originally named Pomona, but because there was already a town in west Texas called Pomona (or Pamona), the name was changed to Manvel in honor of a president of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway.
The city's population was 5,179 as of the 2010 US Census.
Students in Manvel attend schools in the Alvin Independent School District.
