In August 1944 , in response to the refusal of Trachoni residents to declare Bulgarian citizenship on subsequent census despite the obvious risk involved. Then the occupying Bulgarian forces executed the male population of the village at " Iron Gate " ( Antalofos ) which is located about 5 kilometers from the village At the place of execution is currently monument with the names of the fallen .
The remaining villagers , mostly women and children were dispersed .
