One of only two fieldstone railway stations remaining in Ontario. The station was constructed by the Michigan Central Railway shortly after it acquired the Canada Southern Railway in 1880.
On August 10th, 1907 a boxcar loaded with 5,000 lbs. of trinitroglycerin exploded killing two railway workers and causing extensive damage to the station and the town. The explosion was so large that it was felt 20 miles away in Detroit.
