mine, copper mine
The Copper Basin area has been mined extensively beginning with small-scale mining from the late 1800’s, and large-scale, open-pit mining for copper and gold commencing in 1967. The open pit mines have been reclaimed but the area still contains large known resources of Mo, significant resources of Cu and Au, and potential for further exploration. These operations are on property owned by Newmont Mining Corporation, and Newmont has exploration plans for the property.
