This building was designed as the flagship for the upscale department store Sakowitz Bros. (though the "Bros." was dropped within a decade). It was designed by Alfred C. Finn but closed in the mid-1980s during a major local recession with the rest of the chain folding soon after. After Sakowitz closed, the building was ultimately converted into a parking garage, with some flooring even visible in parts.
