Holbav village is located in the depression of Barsa, on the southern slope of the Magura Codlea. The village is 20 km away from Brasov city and 14 km from the city Codlea.
Part of the historical region Barsa. On its territory there were lead mines, coal and silver (first extractions were made in the nineteenth century, rudimentary). Flora has the jurassic.

In 1733, when Bishop Innocent Micu-Klein joined the organization had a census in Transylvania, the city Holbav, spelled Holbák were reviewed 24 families, ie about 120 people. Register the same census, more do we name the priest who served the church in the village: Koman (= Coman), Orthodox. May we learn that the same document on parish hay gathered a quantity of hay car. Name of the village, Holbák and priest name, Koman were played in Hungarian spelling as census results were for a committee consisting of non-Romanians, mostly Hungarians.
