Sant'Anselmo in Rome is the centre of the Benedictine Confederation. Here the Benedictine abbots of the world meet every four years for the Confederation congress. Sant'Anselmo is the seat of the Abbot Primate; here reside the monks sent to Rome to teach or study (Collegio Sant'Anselmo) and here is the Benedictine university (Ateneo Sant'Anselmo). The College and the Athenaeum operate during the academic year, from October to June.
The church and monastery was designed by Hildebrand de Hemptinne and Fidelis von Stotzingen, and built in 1900
