Opened in 1965 the plant consists of two distinct components. Conventional wastewater receives treatment by one process and vegetable processing waste piped directly from the H.J. Heinz plant receives separate treatment in a different part of the plant before both enter the outfall to Lake Erie. It has a rated capacity of 35,000 m3/day and peak flow rate of 70,000 m3/day.
