The water is pumped from the treatment facility near the Potomac directly here via multiple large (several feet in diameter) pipes. All of the tanks hold treated potable water.

  • That's WSSC's Wheaton Water Pumping Station, a major store-and-forward point for water coming from the Potomac water plant on River Road. I'm pretty sure *all* of those tanks hold drinking water, a total of millions of gallons.
  • Correct, this is the down-county WSSC pump station and holding facility. The water is pumped from the treatment facility near the Potomac directly here via multiple large (several feet in diameter) pipes. All of the tanks do hold treated potable water.
