  • This pumping station is not the sole source of water for San Diego County, but does provide a significant percent. Its source water comes from the Colorado River about 10 miles south of Lake Havasu City. This plant and the surrounding area was chiefly developed during the depression era and built by the CCC.
  • I spent the first four years of my life at the Iron Mountain Pumping Station Settlement. My father, Emmett Francis Seltzer, was working for the MWD and they furnished us a home at the settlement. The settlement then was like an oasis -homes, trees and yes green lawns. We had plenty of water. Sidewinders would often come onto our lawn to cool off, so much of the time my brother and I had to play within the screened-in pourch. I still like the smell of ashphalt on a hot day. My parents had to drive from Iron Mountain to Redlands Hospital in Redlands during a snow storm for my birth. I was Born January 9, 1937. We moved from Iron Mountin in 1940. First to Banning and then In 1941 My father took a position at Cal Shipyard in Long Beach in charge of all the giant German gantre crains. I grew up Long Beach. Glenn Seltzer CEO OMNUS, Retired

  • Can you tell me what that very white area about four miles northeast is? It looks like huge calcium deposits coming up out of the earth. I see what looks like a huge filter system.
  • Great story
