The original Food Building was constructed on this site in 1921. It was one of the earliest buildings in a fifty-year plan to re-develop the physical layout of the grounds. The original Food Building brought most of the food exhibits together under one roof for the first time. By 1954, an expansion was necessary and the present day structure, the Food Products Building, was constructed on the site.
